About our Flooring We mill four different widths for inventory (2 1/2", 3 1/2", 4 1/2' and a 5 1/2") Wider widths are done on a quote basis. Antique timbers chosen for resaw are hand selected, denailed and resawn. The resawn boards are individually hand graded and marked for ripping to width. At this point, all rot and splits are cut out. All sapwood is eliminated from our SELECT and PERFECT grades. The sized lumber is then put through a multi-headed moulder and run into a 3/4" thick tongue and groove flooring match profile. The bottom of all our flooring is stress relieved by cutting channels to prevent cupping and allow the flooring to breathe. Lengths go from 1' to over 12'. The average length is 6' to 8'. Finally, each piece of flooring is individually graded, culling out the inferior wood and defecting the good planks by removing all loose and large knots, rough shake, bolt holes and through splits. Select Grade... This grade consists of 100% heartwood in hand selected planks with tight grain and beautiful color. The total floor will be 75% vertical grain or better. Completely KNOT FREE. Very few small nail holes allowed. Sold in a mixed width. Single widths are also available. |

Perfect Grade... 100% Quartersawn, vertical grain heartwood. Extremely tight grain. NO KNOTS, NO NAIL HOLES. Nothing shorter than 2' in length. The absolute best, hand-graded, heart pine money can buy. No equal. Priced per square foot. Limited quantities. |

Old Reveal... This unique grade of flooring uses the exterior surface of a board as it sat in the building for its structural life. The floor can contain a mix of species including heartwood and sapwood material. The wood produces a varied color and texture which gives a diverse look that is one-of-a-kind, both unique and beautiful. Sold in a mixed width. Single widths are also available. |
